I was delighted and honoured when Carolyn asked me to be President of her Company, "Arravale Racing". Horseracing has been good to the Costigans and their horses. To summarize, we have won four Canadian Sovereign Awards, including, in 2006, the highest award in Canadian horseracing "Horse of the Year", and three "Champion Turf Mare" honours. We have won (11) or placed (15) in twenty six stakes races, nine of which were graded stakes.

Our horses have competed in Canada and in the USA, and in 2009 we ventured for the first time to Europe, where we raced at the Curragh and Leopardstown in Ireland. Our horses have raced with distinction in some of the most prestigious events in the racing calendar, including, in the USA, the Breeders' Cup World Championship, the American Derby at Arlington Park, the American Invitational Oaks at Hollywood Park, the Del Mar Oaks, and the Washington Oaks at Emerald Downs. In Canada, our horses have raced in the E.P Taylor Stakes, Woodbine Mile, Pattison Canadian, Nassau Stakes, Alywow Stakes, Woodbine Oaks, The Queen's Plate, Princess Elizabeth Stakes and the Glorious Song Stakes (all at Woodbine) and the British Columbia Oaks at Hastings Park.

In 2010 Roan Inish, a three-year-old filly bred by us and trained by Carolyn gave us our 11th Stakes win in the most important race for Canadian bred fillies, the Woodbine Oaks!  Carolyn was the first female trainer in history to win this hotly contested event for a purse of $500,000.  Roan Inish then went on to finish a superb 3rd in The Queen's Plate three weeks later against boys.

A year earlier Roan Inish won the most important race for two-year-old Canadian bred fillies, the Princess Elizabeth Stakes. Also in 2009, Gallant, a three-year-old bred by us, won the $500,000 Prince of Wales, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.
